Statement of Beliefs

The Great Parks Chapel statement of beliefs is as follows:

God: There is only one God who may be known in three persons - Father, Son and Holy Spirit.

The Bible: is God's infallible revelation to man. It speaks with final authority and is always sufficient for all matters of belief and practice.

People: are created in God's image, to love and worship Him. Universal sinfulness, guilt and separation from God were brought about by the choices of our first parents.

Jesus Christ: was God and fully man; conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of a virgin. He lived a sinless life in obedience to God, died on the cross in the place of sinners, bearing God's punishment for their sin and redeeming them by His blood. He rose from death in bodily form, ascended into heaven, where He is now exalted Lord of all and intercedes for His people.

Salvation: is by personal faith in Christ alone, without works and solely by grace (conversion experience). All true believers become children of God and receive eternal life.

Holy Spirit: is sent from heaven. He convicts sinners, indwells believers, reveals Christ, brings assurance of salvation, promotes Christ-likeness, builds up the church and empowers its members for worship, service and mission.

Church: The one true church is the invisible ‘body’ of which Christ is the head, consisting of all believers, regardless of race or social standing. This is made visible in local churches where all true believers are ‘priests’.

Future: This will bring the eventual ‘rapture’ of the church and Christ's personal return to establish His kingdom on earth. The resurrection of the body will mean eternal glory for believers in heaven and everlasting banishment of unbelievers in hell.

Great Parks Chapel's key practices include: Prayer, Fellowship, Teaching, Evangelism, Baptism for Believers, Lord’s Supper (or Communion).
